Dear Believer,
Psalm 63:1
"O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water."
After the funeral, when you have laid your loved one to rest, the world often becomes quiet. It can feel as though you are in a desert, surrounded by the heat, pressure, and solitude of grief.
In Psalm 63, David prays to God from his own wilderness. Emotionally and physically exhausted, he describes a deep thirst in his soul. In that dry place, he recognized that only God could provide the true comfort he needed.
If you find yourself in a similar place today, please remember that God is present. He is waiting for you to bring Him your questions, your pain, and your honest emotions. He desires to fill the deafening silence of grief with His presence, carrying you when your strength fails and covering you under the shadow of His wings.
1 Chronicles 16:11
"Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!"
Seeking God is a daily, continuous process. Each day brings new questions, emotions, and challenges. In grief, progress is often measured in small steps—feeling a little stronger, or experiencing moments of peace. Whether you are having a bearable day or a difficult one, God promises never to turn you away.
Here are a few practical steps to invite God into the quiet moments:
1. Search the Scriptures: Read passage daily that speak of God’s comfort and promises to be your help.
2. Meditate on His Word: Spend time reflecting on how these truths apply to your current situation.
3. Worship: Expressing praise—even when it feels difficult—invites God’s presence into your silence. If you are struggling to find the words, read Psalm 100 out loud or listen to a worship song that comforts you.
Allow God into the silence around you. Ask Him to fill you with His strength and peace as you walk through this season.
Grace and peace be unto you,
