At its heart, becoming a Christian is about building a personal relationship with God by learning to trust and believe in Jesus Christ. It begins with accepting Jesus into your heart, and it continues as you seek God daily. A key part of this journey is connecting with a local body of believers where you can learn, grow, and strengthen your faith alongside others.
If you are looking for simple steps to build a relationship with God, it begins with accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior through a simple prayer of faith:
1. Realize God's love for you: God created you and desires for you to experience His peace and eternal life. As John 3:16 reminds us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
2. Acknowledge the gap: We all face the problem of sin, which separates us from God. Romans 3:23 states that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," and Romans 6:23 notes that "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
3. Accept the solution: God bridged this gap through Jesus. Romans 5:8 says, "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
If you would like to receive Christ today, you can pray a prayer like this from your heart:
"Lord, I admit that I am a sinner and I need You. I ask You to forgive me for my sins, and I turn away from them today. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave. I invite Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life through the Holy Spirit. I receive You, Jesus, as my Lord and Savior. Amen."
If you prayed that prayer, you have taken the first step in your relationship with Jesus and God now lives in you! Welcome to God's family of believers. We are so glad you are here, and we encourage you to keep exploring the rest of the resources on this site.
Grace and peace be on to you.
